The Arc Tree: An Approximation Scheme To Represent Arbitrary Curved Shapes
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper introduces the arc tree, a hierarchical data structure to represent arbitrary curved shapes. The arc tree is a balanced binary tree that represents a curve of length 1 such that any subtree whose root is on the kth tree level is representing a subcurve of length 1/2k. Each tree level is associated with an approximation of the curve; lower levels correspond to approximations of higher resolution. Based on this hierarchy of detail, queries such as point search or intersection detection and computation can be solved in a hierarchical manner. Algorithms start out near the root of the tree and try to solve the queries at a very coarse resolution. If that is not possible, the resolution is increased where necessary. We describe and analyze several such algorithms to compute a variety of set and search operators. Various related approximation schemes to represent curved shapes are also discussed. o 1990 Aca-

متن کاملImplementation of D3Q19 Lattice Boltzmann Method with a Curved Wall Boundary Condition for Simulation of Practical Flow Problems
In this paper, implementation of an extended form of a no-slip wall boundary condition is presented for the three-dimensional (3-D) lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for solving the incompressible fluid flows with complex geometries. The boundary condition is based on the off-lattice scheme with a polynomial interpolation which is used to reconstruct the curved or irregular wall boundary on the ne...
متن کامل3-D object recognition using adaptive scale MEGI
We propose a method for recognition of a 3-D object using multi scale description of the object and adaptive matching. MEGI model is a description model to represent arbitrary shapes. However, many MEGI elements are necessary to represent uneven or curved surfaces with accuracy, so it is di cult to use them for recognition. As a solution, we make a tree which corresponds multi scale description...
متن کاملApplication of Decoupled Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method to Solve Eigenvalue Helmholtz Problems (Research Note)
A novel element with arbitrary domain shape by using decoupled scaled boundary finite element (DSBFEM) is proposed for eigenvalue analysis of 2D vibrating rods with different boundary conditions. Within the proposed element scheme, the mode shapes of vibrating rods with variable boundary conditions are modelled and results are plotted. All possible conditions for the rods ends are incorporated ...
متن کاملبررسی سرریزهای زیگزاگی با پلان قوسی
A labyrinth spillway is an overflow spillway to regulate and control flow in canals, rivers and reservoirs. The main hypothesis for the development of such a spillway is to increase the discharge per unit width of structure for a given headwater. This type of structure is often an efficient alternative to a gated-spillway type where either the increase of the flood-passage capacity or the con...
